The correct answer is yes and no. Not every kind of tea will cause kidney stones, only those kinds with caffeine. Caffeine-free tea tastes pretty nasty, so not many people drink it. One 8-oz. glass a day should not cause problems, especially if you have a healthy diet and exercise. However, if you eat mainly junk food and are a couch (or computer) potato, and all the beverage you drink is tea, the chances that you will get kidney stones are increased.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
