No. Now, there is one area in foreign travel you can. Japan has inter area travel where they allow smoking. But otherwise, it's banned. Think of this...the oxygen tanks, the confined spaces, so many factors that are the reaon why smoking is banned. Try and smoke in the bathroom, even with your head in the 'blue', and you chance not only endangering yourself, plus fines, but other passengers lives as well. Get a patch, chewing gum, etc. to hold you over. Dramamine works well...and don't drink as this may want you to violate the no smoking law.

No. All planes are non-smoking now, and it is an offence, punishable with jail. Don't even be tempted while on the flight - not even in the lavatories, which are all equipped with highly sensitive detectors.

Below are a couple of stories about what you could face for doing so.

Not too likely. From experiences in North America I can tell you it hasn't been allowed in years. You're lucky if you can smoke outside of public buildings in parts of Canada now. Check with your destination airport on smoking rooms and if not that, ask if the bar will allow smoking.

The best thing for you to do id go ahead a get a box of the nicotine patches or you can get this gel hand sanitizer stuff they sell at Walgreen's that is nicotine in it. It is for those trying too quit but need some that adds nicotine into the bloodstream quicker than a patch. Also you cannot carry a lighter in your carry-on but I think you can carry 1 book of matches.

On US flights and even most European flights, the answer is

You can smoke, but be prepared for a hefty fine and to get tackled by air marshalls, the pilot, and/or flight attendants.

Smoking is outlawed on all flights I have been on (in the US, Mexico, and Europe) in the past 10+ years.
