As far as i know in Malaysia u can connect using Time Net dial-up

beyond having to have a phone line that works? yes.

google 'free internet serive', you should get a couple. i've used nocharge in the past. it's dial-up, but it works.

Yes, if your inside a airport, with your laptop, you can pickup a signal, and it depends if someone in your house/dorm room has a router, you would be able to pick up a signal, and you wouldn't have to pay.
