definitely China with their double-digit growth rates, expanding foreign policy and business interests in Africa, expansion in energy and oil exploration (remember Cuba) in Africa, and extremely low cost of production of any quality of goods coupled with increase in the numbers of well-educated chinese..........they are well on their way.
give them another ten years!

Neither. The US will continue being a sole superpower. Japan is too small, China is full of social controversies which might eventually cause it to disintegrate. Communist China can not exist forever sitting between the two chairs (Communist ideology and capitalist economy). Sooner or later this contradiction will be resolved by some kind of social conflict, maybe even a revolution. In any case, China is likely to split up into smaller states.

A lot of nations try that but have not seen one succeed for a long period. China is a conquering nation proven by history for century. Japan just tried for WW2. Non of these 2 countries are most advanced in weaponry than US arsenal, up to this moment and for another 15 years.

China will no doubt dominate the world financial markets...after all, Clinton opened the door and now they make everything we use....mostly junk, but bug profits, Ask Sam Walmart...He personally caused Rubbermaid to go bankrupt, by demanding cheap Chinese crap.
Militarily, we have them beat, except in sheer numbers. More Chinamen than you can shake a stick at
