A “real world” example relating to molar heats of solution are Instant Cold packs, where you ‘activate’ the packet and the contents are allowed to react inside. Inside, a chemical (which can vary between companies / packs / …) is allowed to mix with water. As this chemical dissolves, it absorbs energy since it is (for this substance) an endothermic process. As it absorbs energy from its surroundings, it feels cold.

These things do have uses in the real world.
