Maybe not Necessary sadness, but when things are going okay in your life, are you always looking on the negative side. Almost as if you know something bad thats going to make you sad is going to happen. And after a while, for me at least, i start to feel like sadness is ok, and maybe i want it. B/c with it you'll never have to wonder if something bad is coming.

We all feel sad sometimes. Sadness is a normal emotion that can make life more interesting. Much art and poetry is inspired by sadness and melancholy. Sadness almost always accompanies loss. When we say goodbye to a loved one we usually feel sad. The sadness is even deeper if a close relationship has ended or a loved one has died.

Sadness is the everlasting emotion.
It come with our first cry
and ends with our last sigh.
It pervades all our life,
it is the human condition.

The pain and anguish we all must bear,
it is our everlasting tear.
In it, we all find our share
So, tell me more of sadness
and I’ll tell you of gladness.

Together we can share yet another tear
And perhaps, find our way clear
to share a bit of happiness.
So, tell me yet more of sadness
that I might tell you of gladness.

We may speak until the shining dawn
stifling our saddened yawn.
To once more see the light
shatter the somberness
of our everlasting sadness.

All around us we get negative news and all the shows are negative and dramatic. The juiciest gossip is negative. It's no wonder we aren't comfortable being happy.

The payoff to being sad or negative a lot is you're distracting yourself from having to take scary risks (and risk failure). Your emotional pain distracts you from the challenges of moment-to-moment life events.

We don't crave for it, but it has it use. Sadness helps us to express loss, regret, and choices that might otherwise harm us if we didn't feel sadness. Besides, people who are happy all the time kind of bug me.

I think exhaustive, daily attempts to find happiness results in sadness. So maybe it is wired in us that we do crave it. It's how we appreciate happiness.
