yes, the devil was an angel. as a matter of fact the bible says that he was God's favorite and most beautiful of all angel's. basically he got too big for his britches and moved on alone. God did make us in his image and we get too big for our britches sometimes as well. anyway, he took some angel
s with him too.

The Devil was supposedly God's favorite angel, His right hand man. Apparently, the Devil became jealous of God and didn't approve of the way God was running things. There was some Holy Drama, the Devil was kicked out of the house and now causes ruckus whenever he can :)

I don't have a web site for you, its just what I was told when I ws a kid and still Christian.

bible is a better source than a website. Lucifer was an angel, who was the most beuatiful of all the angels. he was so beautiful that he became vain, and tired to overthrown heaven. when that hapened, a great war began, and has been going on ever since. as to what made him change...vanity.

God created 3 archangels: Lucifer (who became Satan), Michael and Gabriel. Each had watch over other millions of angels. Lucifer was not happy that God was treating US so well when we were "below"angels. Showed us mercy when he thought he shouldn't . Help us to find our way when he thought he shouldn't. etc

“So God did not create a devil. He created a cherub, Lucifer—perfect in his ways, but with the power of free choice—and Lucifer transformed himself into a devil by rebellion against the Government of God!”

Hope that helps you understand.
