If this is 2x^2, then 2x^2 + 2x = 1 Complete the square or quad formula

x^2 + x = 1/2

x^2 + x + 1/4 = 1/2 + 1/4

(x + 1/2)^2 = 3/4

x = (-1 +- sq rt 3 )/ 2

-2 +/- sqrt(4 + 8)
