Look around. She was the most famous of the peroxide blonde bombshells. Without Marilyn, there'd be no Brittney, Anna Nicole, or Paris. Even Madonna imitated her in her video "Material Girl".

She lived a horrible personal life in exchange for fame and fortune. Her main redeeming quality was her beauty, and it got her far.

As a historical icon Marilyn Monroe has nothing in the history books. How she influenced America? I'm not sure influenced is the best word to use, she posed nude, very tastefully I might add, in Playboy. She was an actress. She somehow got involved with the Kennedy's and I would not argue against a case that she was murdered. Marilyn wasn't the only actors/actresses that had an impact on America. But, look at actresses today, some do close-ups seemingly without make-up. This was unheard of in Marilyns day. She was my favorite actress-she was so vulnerable and lost.
