I agree. It's not very zenlike - you should be doing what you're doing, instead of trying to cram everything into one moment.

I often think that they're too insecure to be alone with their thoughts for any length of time, and have to have something, anything to take their minds off themselves.

Driving while talking on a cell phone is hazardous to everyone's health no matter who is doing it. If you are on the cell phone, you are not concentrating on what's happening on the road and cluttering up space on the highway. Get off the darn thing if you need to talk.

I know people have earpieces now but some still have trouble concentrating on the road. Let's just leave cell phones out of the driving mechanism.

I am so glad California passed a law about it - too bad the fines aren't steeper!

In July of 2007, it will become LAW in the State of California - that using a cell phone while driving will cost you initially, a $20.00 ticket. It will go up from there...A number of other states are jumping on the "bandwagon" of prohibiting this ridiculous activity behind the wheel of a vehicle.

This is an insane, if not asinine habit in our country that I surmise will be squelched accordingly as time progresses. It's dangerous, annoying, distracting and just plain WRONG.

Always best to pull over and talk if it is an emergency, then get back on the road.

Hey oldfootlose, try doing all that and talk on a cell phone! Only those that can actually function while talking on the phone and driving should be aloud too, The other 99.9999999999999999999999999% of the people should hang up.

Ugh! I have one, but I try not to answer it while in the car. Or I have one of my passengers get the call.
I think they are the number one cause of car accidents! I was sideswiped by a woman, reaching under the passenger seat to retrieve a ringing cell phone! And I've seen some of the dumbest driving imaginable from people yapping on the phone instead of watching the road.

No talking on phones, and driving you need to pay attention to driving, the signs, traffic, unless you have a head set, pull over. Good question and so important these days.

I agree! It causes people to drive too slow and it makes it easier to lose control of the car. Also, it causes more accidents because people aren't paying attention to the road.

I think that it is dangerous. I mean just to answer the phone you have to take your eyes off the road, and anything can happen then.

They tested this on Mythbusters. It is almost as dangerous as driving under the influence of alcohol.
