so originally, the probability of pulling a penny is 1/3, and when you add 24 pennies, the probability is 1/2.

originally there were 24 pennies, 24 nickels, and 24 dimes. when you add 24 pennies, it becomes 48 pennies/96 coins or 1/2.

x = original amount of pennies, nickels, dimes
x + 24 = 1/2 * (3x + 24)
2x + 48 = 3x + 24
24 = x

24 pennies, 24 nickels, 24 dimes

Check: add 24 pennies = 48 pennies
Total then: 48 + 24 + 24 = 96 coins
48 is 1/2 of 96.
