what does the network update do i mean i did it but does it change anything or is it the same just a different version?

it does different things different times usually it just improves security but sometimes it will add new features like mine added the camera and the online manual well mine did anyway cuz it was bought in 2005 sometime i think

Network update allows you download the latestest versions of firmware and install it.
In general, the latest firmware version provides improvements and added features to your PSP systems. Also, some games requires you to use the latest firmware in order to play. But in general you will not notice anything significant difference.
Also, latest firmware patch security holes that allow people to hack their psp.
