I can honestly say I don't fear snakes. Spiders are a different story. I think most women fear snakes because they're slimy and because of the creepy way they move. Or maybe it's because they can fit into tight spaces (ewww)

so many snakes kill thousands of people each year and multiply that by thousands of years when there was no antivenom, then maybe you can see the fear instinct to have evolved into a very natural fear at the deepest primal level. if you don't understand that, sorry. some people are different. the california girl who had her arm bit off by a shark a couple of years ago healed up went right back in the water and in an interview she said she was afraid. go figure. odd duck. it is normal to be very afraid of the black mamba, for instance, or a grizzly bear chasing you through the forest. right?

Here are the reasons:
1.) Some women fear that snakes attack, bite, maim, and kill. 2.) Some women refer to snakes as something spawned from Satan.
3.) Most women believe that snakes were the downfall of good, turned evil. Read the book of Genesis.

I don't know that I would categorize women as having the #1 fear. I would say that snakes in general ahve been feard for a long time because they kill people. I am not sure there is any one reason specific to women

Women?!! What makes you think only women are afraid of snakes? I know a lot of guys that scream like a girl when they see a snake! (And for the record, I HATE snakes because they look so evil).

I am female and I don't fear snakes.
And for your info it is not just women who are fearful of them. Men are too.
In fact anyone who doesn't know enough about snakes is fearful of them because of the risk to human life they pose.

i don't know I love snakes i was the only one in my church to pick up a harmless gardener snake who got lost inside
everybody eles refuse to pick it up even the guys
i'm just scared of spiders i just find Spiders creepy

honestly, i don't think that there is one special reason to why WOMEN are afraid of snakes.
It all depends on the person.
