Now a days contacts are very affordable. I always buy a 12 pair set that last for a whole year. This purchase usually cost from $60-$80 (depending if there's a sale or promo). I've been buying them at JCPenny's optical for the last sixteen years.
I've never had any problems with them and been using them since the seventh grade. I'm 28 now. However, safety and care very important but simple.

Contact lenses are a lot of responsibility and a lot of work. Chances are, you're mom won't let you get them because she doesn't think you can handle it. If you want to change her mind, you're going to have to prove to her that you can be responsible enough. In the meantime, if she won't budge on the contacts, why not talk to her about some new, more stylish frames for your glasses.

First of all mom's know best. Contacts are a big responsiblity. So maybe you should show her that you are capable of keeping contacts clean and not lose them. SOOO keeping yourself, room and surrounding things in order and clean could convince her. Not losing things and showing her you can take care of things with value. But don't rush into growing up. Good luck

Tell her about the "Night and Day" soft contacts. There the ones i wear. They take less maintanence. You CAN sleep in them and wear them for a month, I tend to take mine out maybe once a week to clean them. They are very easy and VERY NICE to wear. Tell her u can take up the responsibility and you want to take a step in looking more like an adult lol.
AND just so you know they are VERY safe as well!

yes mother knows best, but know that contacts are really expensive. It may take a while to get them, but u should tell ur mom your getting teased about glasses. So even tho ppl may tease u.....u could try to ignore them but if that is hard you could save up your money for them or do something nice for a month for her and then see what she says.

Try bargaining.
There's got to be something she wants more than you Not having contact lenses. Like better grades, a cleaner house, additional chores, etc. Contact lenses are not only a responsibility, they also cost money. Earn them.

Tell her it will save your self esteem. My dad used to wear them, and he's not a great supporter of them due to some problems he had. Seeing what he went through, I wouldn't do it unless, as was his case, due to medical reasons, you HAD to use contacts and glasses also (before cataract surgery). Good luck convincing her!

Just let her know that contacts are a good way to take on responsibility. She will know that you cannot see good without them so you will not risk wearing them incorrectly. Also let her know that they will help to boost your self esteem. What parent would not want a confident child? :)
