I am talking about real Goths, not the people who try to act like goths or dress in all black! Because being Goth is is a mind set not a fasion choice!

I used to think it was cool when I was a teen in the 80s but as I grew up there were so many other more important things to deal with rather than fashion and looking a certain way. Like you said, it's more about what's on the inside. Still listen to the music, though :)

I agree totally with you. Being goth has nothing to do with what clothes you wear or music you listen to, it is a way of thinking and seeing the world. The clothes that goths wear and the music that goths listen to is just a reflection of that mindset. Goths see that there is extreme pain and evil in the world, along with the good. Instead of condemning it or ignoring it, goths accept these things as a part of life and try and enjoy the good along with the bad, since they can't stop the bad from happening. They are not obsessed with death, they just accept it as an inevitability. They do not try and cause more pain in their (or anybody else's) lives, since there is plenty to start with. Goths tend to be kind, intelligent, non-violent, emotional, and artistic. I've yet to meet a mean goth, and I've been married to a fantastic goth guy for several years now. It just sucks that the look has become trendy and the Hot Topic goths try and invade the clubs. But then again, if they weren't there, who would we make fun of?

i like the tongue in cheek side... the fashion side, the music, but really! och. i cant take everything being so deep. no one cant really answer this because i dont know what you think goth is. everyone has different ideas.

but yes, as a teenager you find your own path and trend, things fit in to your lifestyle and your views so you jump on the band wagon and let the bandwagon do all the talking for you, with you stoping every now and then to decide whether you agree with the culture you've added yourself to.

but now i cant be bothered to be a goth. I'm just me. I'm a vegetarian who doesnt like the taste of egg or cream, i wear alot of black if i feel like it, i have other colours if i feel a bit wild or if ive been listening to electro (now now, goth electro still exsists), i like fair trade, help the enviroment where possible, i hate my abuser, i dont lead the life my fellow 19 year old friends lead, i've started getting into indie. which face it, compared to goth in the 80's and rock back then, it's all the same, within reason.

just live with the times, go to the things you want to, enjoy what you want to, live, dont think too hard about who you are and what that label means or what it asks of you. there's such a thing as being dark, depressed and worried while not letting it rule your definition of goth and who you are as a goth.

They are the ideal human. If I could live in a world that was 100% goth (fog, werewolves and vampires coming out at night, twilight, ect), I would. I don't dress all in black or anything but I like the look. I loathe the sun and bubbly people make me sick.

The REAL goths sacked Rome. They were awesome, unlike the sniviling children who hang out in the mall.

They are the keepers of the gate.

A lot of my family were/are goths so I have a lot of respect for it.

They don't do anyone any harm and there have been some damned good gothic bands - Sisters, Mission, Fields etc.

They are real losers they made rock miserable and boring those geeks ruined what once was about fun. I am wilder at 37 then those muppets so i think that shows how boring they are, being negative will only make you fail in life. Ps Us sold timers used to wear make up and have to fight are way to clubs it made us feared in the end because we were so crazy and we could drink bottles of Jack . Goths are just babies looking for the attention mummy never gave them

Most are deep, passionate, creative.

And part of a stong community.

the police say they never get trouble from goth clubs.

And being more comunity society it teaches people to look after each other.

I find it adorable. I also think it's funny how every generation thinks that they created it. As long as there has been civilization there have been pasty skinny kids who don't think anyone gets them.
