There used to be a scheme running in UK - I think it was called Letts.
Does anyone know anything about it, is it still running, it's such a good idea, I'd love to join.

Contact me with any info please?

The old word is barter.
There are lots of modern schemes running now that use the barter principle: people trade skills as a group.
Other local skills-trading organisations have been built up with payment in the form of credit units. These are called LETS schemes. (The name stands for 'Local Exchange Trading Scheme') They're great because you aren't limited to making trades with people that have something you want or vice versa.
Ms A can mow Mrs B's lawn and earn a credit; she can then 'spend' that credit anywhere within her LETS community.

You can find out more about LETS here:

It is a form of bartering. If you couldn't pay for an item or job with cash you either did work for the them or paid with none monetary items, eggs, chicken, share of the pig when butchered etc.

It was called LETS and worked very well in our community for several years. Unfortunately, some people have moved away and left some gaps and it just went quiet.
