Are you sure you aren't accidentally hitting the restart button? If the tower is on the floor it could be you are kicking it with our foot.

I just bought a computer back in august and it had Norton on it. I did the same thing as you and downloaded limewire and my computer would restart too. I got rid of Norton cause it didn't do it's job. I saved everything important off my computer onto CD's and reset it. I think you have to press F11 when it starts up. I've got AVG Anti-virus Free Edition and it works. I've reinstalled limewire. I also have Windows Defender. That's free too. I would get System Mechanic Pro 7. It has a 30 day trial. I have it and it removes viruses and also cleans up clutter on your computer. Also when on limewire don't download files that are corrupt or the file type is a wma. Like all of those have viruses. If you don't want to reset your computer, try running all the stuff on System Mechanic Pro 7. Good luck.

First of all DO NOT PANIC. You have two good virus etc protectors. Just run a full system scan. If nothing turns up your computer might be fixed. Instead of havng the feeling there is a virus all the time just get rid of Limewire. I had limewire and just recently I downloaded what I thought was a song but it had 5 adwares in it. So my Norton Antivirus got rid of it so I deleted limewire. Dont use Limewire its illegal and has alots of viruses

You probably have a ton of viruses, which is just karma biting you in the butt. Guys who write viruses love preying on criminals like you by injecting their viruses and trojans and bots into peer to peer networks like Limewire. they know you can't complain without admitting to committing a crime yourself. If you want to stay clean, you need to stick with legal downloads. For once the virus writers are actually doing a public service.

But you either have a virus (probably several) or you've messed up some system files. It might possibly be bad hardware, but given the presence of Limewire it's most likely a virus. As for fixing it, the problem is that if you load an antivirus onto an infected computer, you can't trust it. Many viruses can disable anti-virus products. The safest way to get rid of it is to format your hard drive and install everything over again. This is a pain to do, but it's the only way to be sure.

In the future, stick with legal downloads. Not only does Limewire have viruses, but you can also be sued for illegally downloading and sharing music (http://mp3.about.com/od/isitlegal/a/riaalawsuits.htm and http://www.chillingeffects.org/piracy/faq.cgi).

I have to disagree with limewire coming bundled with adware. Out of all the share programs, that one is pretty good. I use it myself and I haven't had any problems. It could be that you do not have enough memory to support the large program. It could be a virus of some sort. You should run your anti-virus program and use adaware programs stated below. You could also try to unistall limewire and see if it makes a difference. If everything goes back to normal than it's probably because it's not enough memory. The links below are all free and very good.

As soon as you put limewire on it and started downloading, you opened the machine up to all kinds of spyware, adware and viruses.
Rather than illegally download anything, just go out and pay for it. In the end it saves you a lot of aggravation. My advice, get rid of limewire, run your anti virus, run a spyware scan, and if it turns anything up, turn off your system restore first, then clean out the buggy files. When you are sure it is all gone, then turn on system restore again and make a new restore point.
You should be good to go.

You have a virus. The same thing happened to me. Mine was fixed by a friend, so I wouldn't know the price of fixing it.
