It means that if you are dishonest, you will be able to get away with it (partially) for a while, then some folks will get wise to you, and some folks will never catch on to your dishonesty, and lastly, you will be only fooling yourself into thinking you've fooled everybody.

It means that sometimes you can fool people, but in the end you can't always do this because some people are going to figure out that you are fooling and some consequences are going to occur. I is saying that when you are lying you can get away with it sometimes, maybe even alot....but one day someone is going to find out you are lying.

some will even believe you anyway
but eventually people will work out that you are lying

I believe it means that trying to be something you are not will not prove to be successful. Someone at sometime will see through to the real you.
