My husband bought me a very nice pair of cream colored leather gloves from Christmas. On a recent trip I removed them and put them in my purse only to have them marked up by a ballpoint pen. Any ideas on how I can get rid of the stains?

Alcohol Method
Very gently rub stained area with a clean white towel using rubbing alcohol/surgical spirit. Be gentle, as this will quickly take off the stain and the surface finish of the leather.
Let dry completely. If you notice that the glossy shine has gone away, rub in some leather shoe polish. Buff it and you should restore the leather to its previous condition!

Vaseline Method
Put a generous amount of Vaseline on the spot.
Take a cloth and spray it with hairspray.
Rub the cloth gently on the ink spot.

Nail Polish Remover Method
Dab some non-acetone nail polish remover onto a piece of paper towel or tissue.
Rub lightly onto the ink stain. The ink will disappear immediately.
Wipe clean with wet cloth.
Rub dry with towel.

Warnings
May discolor leather! Do a test first in an unnoticeable area!

Ugh, poor dear. I had the same thing happen with a cream-colored Coach purse. This was the best solution I found, but it take time. Coach manufactures a clear cleaning solution (spring for the leather conditioner while you're at it -- they're both really good). I used good sized amounts of it on a fairly abrasive terrycloth rag and cleaned the pen-stained area repeatedly over the course of three days. By three days, though, I mean two to three times PER DAY. It finally came out, but it took lots of work.

You might also call Coach or your local Wilson's leather store to see what they recommend.

Good luck.

I would actually go to the car care store, they have leather cleaners, I just bought a bottle that is specifically used for ink on leather, just cause its not a car doesn't mean you can't use it leather is leather.
