First of all, good choice Arran is totally breathtaking, you wil love it. From glasgow Central get the train to Ardrossan Harbour and then its a two minute walk to the ferry terminal to buy your ticket.

If you need advice on good things to do while ur there, get in touch! hey , I'll come too lol!

First, the ferry. At this time of the year, ferry bookings are not essential, just advised. You can book at Ardrossan.

Secondly, the route. You must remember that the White Cart viaduct on the M8 is currently under repair and subject to delay. So, leave Glasgow on the M8 towards Greenock, but leave it at the second junction after the Kingston Bridge and join the M77 towards Kilmarnock. At the end of the motorway, continue on the A77 to the intersection with the A76 and A71. Here follow the A71 towards Irvine. On the outskirts of Irvine join the A78 towards Greenock. The ferry is clearly signposted thereafter.

Allow 70-75 minutes for the journey (but add about 15 minutes if leaving Glasgow in the peak).
