As of March 5th the Sahara casino has been sold to movie producer, restaurateur and owner Sam Nazarian for a price estimated to be between $300 - $400 million. The deal itself signed on March 3rd, only includes the nearly 18 acre, 1,720 room casino site and not the 26 acres across the Strip or the 11.3 acres the casino owned on Paradise road. Apparently the new owner has plans in the works to renovate the Sahara, so say goodbye to those cheap rates of $40.00 a night. At this point, there is no word about demolition of the Sahara. Of course with this being Vegas, wait 10 minutes and someone will change their mind to build another condo downtown.
