No it's not :( It's part of a convergent plate boundary. It is the largest of three active volcanoes in Italy...even larger than Mt. Vesuvius. The 2002-2003 eruption was actually filmed and used for part of the backdrop landscape for the planet Mustafar in Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith.
