"I know you I walked with you once upon a dream,
I know you the gleam in your eye is so familiar a gleam,
yet I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem,
but if I know you
I know what you'd do,
you'd love me at once,
the way you did once upon a dream."
(that's a song from Walt Disney's version of Sleeping Beauty)

It would be nice if love was a fairy tale. And for some people it is. But like all fairy tales they end too soon.

Why can't people's first love be their only love. The answer is as one person has already said what you want in you teens is not going to be the same as what you want in your 20's 30's 40's and later life.

I hope you do find someone to love you and that it is a fairy tale for you. But one that has a happy ending.

People tastes changes through out life unfortunately. What type of person was acceptable in your earlier years may not be the type of person you want later on. To some people, it can be a fairy tale. It doesn't happen often but has happened. More in previous generations than recent ones, unfortunately.

Ah if love could only be as good as it is in movies.
Sadly people put to much emphisis on love being like the movies hence they are always dissapointed when it's not.
That's not to say that you can't treat the person your in love with like a Prince or Princess. For example my fiance` has always treated me as if I were his Queen and I in turn treat him as if he were my King. It has more to do with the golden rule "Treat others as you would want to be treated" Love can be like a fairy tale if you make the effort.

Well, it's "fairy", but anyhow-

People are complicated. Emotions are complicated. People change throughout their lives, and what is right for us in our teens might not be in our 20s, or 30s. Fairy tales are an "ideal"- what we as humans want love to be like.

Because we live in the real world. And though we strive for beauty and art and love in combination when we are hoping to fall in love, it does not happen that way for most of us. If you are lucky, you will find someone who listens to you when you speak. Who laughs at your jokes, even when they are lame, who lights up when you walk in the door. Someone who cherishes your life and supports your dreams and goals, as you likewise, support and love them. Now that, is real magic and the real 'fairy tale'.

Did you mean a fiery tale? That sounds dangerous. Best stick with the internet girlfriends, chum.

Because love is different for everyone person and there is no need to romanticize something so abstract- we can't children something that is so unique and indvidualistic and shouldn't- love is unique and fascinating because it's so undefinable.

It is. People just get married because they are tired of looking for it and they settle for the person that they are dating than.
