Corned Beef and Cabbage with Booze!

Seriously, most people (in the u.s. at least) cook up corned beef and cabbage and and drink Irish stout. There are often also a lot of parties, also usually with a lot of drinking- and of course you have to wear green or you get pinched.

Well, I am slightly obsessed with Ireland, and until I convince my husband to move there, St. Patrick's day is more like my Irish day. Although the majority of our ancestors are Irish, we are not Catholic, so there is really not too much religious significance for us. We do not drink, so I make Irish food, like champ, soda bread, and for the past two years this salmon recipe from a hotel in Ireland that is really good. This year, we are planning to go to a St. Patrick's day parade, and of course I'll make the same dinner, but I will probably do corned beef and cabbage even though it is an Irish-American dish.

You eat ham and cabbage as that's what the traditional food of irish during St. Patrick's day is. You can look for festivals being celebrated locally.

Not the way i wish i would, all my dads family are irish and i've loads of irish pals who go right on the P..s and have a great time singing and dancing all night, this year i think i'll get a babysitter and join them. They know how 2 celebrate, cause they make much more of a day of it than us brits do on st georges day.

We have corned beef and cabbage with soda bread every year. My parents have Guiness. Then I get a green birthday cake because I am mostly Irish and I was born on St. Patricks day.
