an idiosyncrasy is an odd or annoying repetitive behaviour... usually one that is tied to a particular action or circumstance..

biting your nails when nervous
saying "ahh... ummm" when you speak
having a whiskey before a meeting
scratching your head as you think
humming while you work
even wearing a cowboy hat in the middle of a city could be considered idiosyncratic....
