Why don't acrylic nails and sunscreen mix?

I had acrylic nails one summer, and while i was on a float trip, my nails got all sticky. I'm sure it was from the sunscreen... any thoughts?

the only thing i can think of that the acrylic nails would be affected that way is acetone. did your sunscreen contain acetone?
