goin to bf california next week any ideas on what to see? any hot rod shops? or someting cool to see? first time out there only 4 days

There is only one "tourist" attraction in Bakersfield. That's Buck Owen's Crystal Palace. They have great food and concerts on the weekends. As far as what to do, we have Condors hockey, Jam basketball, and Blaze baseball. There is also CALM (California Living Museum). They have animals from all over CA (almost all of them rescued in some form or another). There are also some great places to eat and we have about 3 major movie theaters. Down town has plenty of interesting bars (we are a college town too). If you're into the outdoors, you can also fish in the Kern River at Heart Park (on the way to CALM) They also have tons of picnic areas so you can eat lunch there if you want. Also, go to kget.com and look at the community calendar to see what's going on the days you are going to be here.
And, just a side note to MBj7B: Yes, Bakersfield has bad air because we get all the pollution form LA and further up the valley, but it is a nice place to live for some of us who are as my Ag teacher use to say, Kern County Tuff!

There's a new Harley Davidson store on 7th Standard Rd.... the drags are this weekend in Famoso, and Bakersfield Speedway started back up last Saturday.... other than that, ....not really too much to do here!

Bakersfield sucks, really, I used to live there for about a year and its hot, smelly(because it's all farmland and surrounded by mountians so no freash air comes through) and there's nothing special about the city, you can go to the mall or the movies there, but you can do that anywhere else too.

I just drove there from San Diego to see AFI play and they were at the Robobank arena, If your in the area thats about the only thing worth seeing there. Sorry!

In Bakersfield??? Sorry its sort of a PIT stop on the way to Vegas...not much there most of us Californians think of Bakersfield as the armpit of Ca......

long previous to the city and further drugs then puked up because of the fact i became into so little and my physique isnt used to it. then became into barfing everywhere in the prepare station whilist each and every finding at me and my buddy certainly no not the craziest greater like the main embarrasing
