Personally, I wouldn't. I mean it would be fine if it was taken care of properly but the problem is the condition of the hard drive. A couple hard drops can cause bad sectors to start happening, which you don't know about till you do a comprehensive hard disk check. Once too many bad sectors accumulate, the ipod can start freezing or hard disk failure. But then again thats after a year or so usually. IMO get a new ipod and get an extended warranty. It's worth the extra money not to have to worry about you ipod failing in the end.

No it wouldn't be a problem. Here are some things u should look for-
1-Where is it from? I reccommend buying it from a good electronics store.
2-How many years it has been used?
3-Is it functioning properly?Ask the store manager for a some type of thing that if doesn't work, you should be able to get a refund.
Lastly, how much is it and does it suit its functions, remember you're buying a used iPOD.
If all these are reasonable then it shouldn't be a problem.

You should be able to buy a 2GB Nano for less than $150. That would be my first choice, but Nano's don't have a hard drive so they should have fewer problems than the old models and you might find a good used one.
I just sold a brand new 2GB on eBay for $125 with free shipping.

If you don't want to spend too much money, a used one will be fine.

No, not at all, as long as you know it is fully functional.
