Select an area of desktop, right click, and got properties, then click the settings tab. Asjust the settings accordingly, start with 1280x960.

causes for replacing computer screen colorations: a million) something interior your pc is loose [make certain not one of the playing cards, cables, and screws are loose]. 2) Your video card needs to get replaced. 3) application incompatibility [new application is incompatible with previous application: downloads or from discs] 4) Virus/ virii [that is the properly desirable spelling of "virus" from Latin, no longer "viruses."] 5) Your computer screen needs to get replaced? 6) it will be some reason(s) except what's listed above.

normally you go to start>control panel>display settings>settings>then reduce the resolution there
but by the sounds of it you need to go to your individual graphics interface control panel,if you have a nvidia graphics card you need to right click and click your monitors name, and if its a.t.i right click and click catylyst control center or use the a.t.i icon in the taskbar
you then should see a option for display resolutions, set your laptop to a defualt size such as 1024x768,this will make your screen normal
dam i hate widescreen!
good luck mate

take a look at the keyboard especially the number keys. you should see symbols or images above them that correspond to what they do when you hold down the function key. experiment with the different button combinations, you should be able to figure it out pretty quick.
