Ok - I have WLAN. I bought a printer with a built-in print server and network connectivity. I'd like to wirelessly connect the new printer to my WLAN instead of running a LAN cable across the house from the new printer to the router. I've got an old 11g wireless router that is not being used. Can I convert the old router that is not currently being used to a wireless access point, hook it up to the new printer and use it to connect the new printer wirelessly to the WLAN. If yes - how would I do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe. The wireless router will have to be configured to work as an access point. It depends on the firmware in the unit.
You might get a $20 used PC and run a short ethernet cable to the wireless router, then run a program on th PC to simulate an access point or perhaps some print server software.
