How long is it safe to stay on Yasmin birth control? I've heard 5 years, but recently I heard only 2. Anyone know? I don't want to stay on it so long that I start getting major health issues and side effects...

It varies by person so it's very hard to say. A friend of mine's sister was only on Yasmin for 3 months before it took her life from a blod clot. That's not all that common but is a very possible side effect you should be aware of. My friends sister was only 19.

I have been taking birth control pills since 1972 with no side effects or health issues, not Yaz, but birth control pills, mainly Ortho Novum. I plan to wait another year or so to make sure I'm going to go through menopause, then I will quit.
