Its obviously going to be a Western Conference team... probably between the Mavs and the Spurs.

I want to point out one thing here:

The Pistons have less quality opposition to get through in order to reach the finals. In terms of raw probability, I give them a very favorable % to make the finals out of the East (say 70%) while none of the Western Conference contenders has even close to that high of a percentage to make the finals. Although once the finals start, the Western Conference team that reaches the finals will be favored, I think that the Pistons have the best chance to win it as it stands now. If D-wade comes back healthy (which is far from certain) I think that shifts the answer to Dallas, since it becomes a two-horse race in the East.

It's going to be Dallas. They have dominated going on some rediculous tear of winning 51 of their last 56 or something like that which is simply unheard of and not fit for words alone. They have been the class of the league all season long and have suffocated teams with a tough defense, and giving teams fits on the other end with such versatile players as Nowitzki, Howard, and Terry. Their coach is one of the best in the league, and all of the pieces are in place on a very deep bench. Another thing that works to their advantage is that they were dominating before the trade deadline, and nobody responded by making any big moves at the deadline. Therefore, no team in the west made it clear that they planned on challenging the Mavs with more than what they already have. Unless they pull a Detroit Pistons and peak at the end of the season, they will win a thrilling (emphasis on thrilling) conference finals series over the Spurs because the Suns don't play defense for **** (can't play their style in the playoffs and you can't convince me otherwise), and they will walk away with it in a moderatly enjoyable series against the Detroit Pistons.

At this moment in time, Dallas. I am a long time Dallas fan and thought they would get it last year, but ended up falling short at the end. This is the main reason this year I believe they will pull it off. Dallas is hungry, they know they had the means last year to win but because of letdowns from Dirk and others, they just couldnt put it together to overcome the Dwayne Shaq combo. You can see this in their year up to this point, no ones close. Suns have no defense, they will get past the first round but will be beaten by a defensive minded team, remember the playoffs are 7 games. The Spurs are always a contender, but this year they have not played up to their standard, they will also go far in the playoffs, but I believe either Utah or one of the other top teams will beat them before the finals. Utah is to young to inexperianced. Lakers are to hurt to do to much damage, though never forget Kobe is at least in the top 3 players in the entire league, so dont write them off as a easy team, even hurt. Not much to mention of in the east. Remeber, last year everyone said the same, Spurs or Mavs, and Heat pulled it out at the end. This is the professionals, and no team is a easy win come playoff time. The cavs have a superstar, but even King James cant win it by himself...he has no supporting cast, I think its Chicago and Detroit in the east finals. Chicago wins this match up, but cant overcome the powerful and hungry Mavericks...

Mavericks are by far the best team. Nowitzki is the MVP, Josh Howard is the most improved player in the league and good defense. The Heat or the Cavs will play them, but lose. The Suns have a shot too.

If I had to say right at this moment who would win the NBA Finals, I would have to pick the Mavs. BUT if Dwayne Wade comes back and plays at the level he did last year in the playoffs, the Heat could make a serious run.

The mavs most def. So far no one in the west is close enough or good enough toget close to them. THings will have to change for the Suns or Spurs to win.

The Phoenix Suns will win the championship this year because of Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire.
