I can be hard to hear the hb that early. Dopplers are usually more reliable after 18 weeks.

It's important not to rely too much on techonology. We need to relax and enjoy our pregnancies w/o obsessing over all the tests, ect. Technology can be wonderful, but it can also drain all the fun out of a lifechanging experience like pregnancy.

Nope. Had the same thing - nurse couldnt find it. Went back a few days later and the doc found it fine. The baby doesnt move up from behind the pelvic bone until around 12 weeks, so maybe the doc just can't get to the baby with the doppler. I'd go back next week tho, and insist they try again. If then still nothing, ask for an ultrasound - then at least you can see the heartbeat.

Do Not Panic!!! sometimes the baby is turned so that the Dr. is unable to hear the heartbeat; if your Dr. didn't tell you to be worried then don't be. He or she will definitely tell you if they think something is wrong. Also the baby is still fairly small so they might not have found the heartbeat.

My Dr started listening for the heartbeat at 12 weeks...I carry some extra weight around my abdomen...so I didn't hear the heartbeat till 16 weeks. I had seen the little heartbeat on the ultrasound

Not at all. At my 14 or 15 week check up the heart beat wasn't hearable through doppler so my doctor did an internal exam and was finally able to hear something. I've always been told that i have a tilted uterus.
If your doctor isn't worried you shouldn't be worried they would never send you home with doubts. I'm sure you'll hear it just fine at your next appointment.

As long as your doctor didn't say anything then there is nothing to worry about. Im 11 weeks and I heared it at 9 weeks because of the way the baby was sitting.

There are times when the baby could be facing a certain way so it would make it harder to find the heartbeat....my son was like that. But the doctor should have either continued to find the heart beat until he got it, otherwise he should have sent you in for an ultrasound to confirm your baby's fine.

they should have done a ultrasound right then.

that is what my doctor does when she cant find the heartbeat. i have a swimmer. as soon as she cant find one she will get the portable ultrasound machine and then check things that way.

i would would not panic. it took until i was about 15 weeks to find my dd heart beat on the doppler because she is attached to the back of my uterus.

if your doctor is not willing to get you a U/S TODAY. then it is time to find another OB and kick that one to the curb

Could you see the heartbeat even if you couldn't hear it? I know on my ultrasounds you could always see the little heart fluttering. If the doctor wasn't worried, then I wouldn't. Or you could always go to a hospital or get a second opinion if you're extremely worried.
