this was the best torpedo used by any navy in world war 2!!it's mode of operation and hydrogen peroxide fuel left no appreciable surface wake ,it was faster tthan many warships!i believe that it was more than 24" in diameter and approximately 14 feet long!!it could miss a zig-zagging target at the 5 mile trajectory and because of it's long range hit the target five to ten miles later!!it had an extremely large high explosive charge and would explode after hitting at almost any angle unlike allied torpedoes earlier in the war which had to almost hit at a 90 degree angle to be effective!!magnetic proximity and sonar controlling devices were later utilized by all sides!!!a surfaced version with piloting steering was deleloped late in the war as suicide craft even though the pilot could concievablly set the controls on target and swim free!!many time no attempt was made to recover even successful pilots for fear of enemy aircraft in the broad light of day;the attacks were launch just before dawn or at dusk when conditions were optimal for surprise !!launches were from specially designed i-class submarines,sub- tenders,or sway- backed converted cruisers and destoyers!!sometimes flotillas of such craft would be launched "over-the-horizon" in front of an onrushing allied convoy or invasion force in unison with suicide plane attacks and specially designed fastboats hidden in shoreline caves and shelters!!very ingenious!!
