Some punk just threw a pair of sneakers over the wire right in front of my house. The quality of this neighborhood is steadily declining, and nothing says "ghetto" like a pair of freakin' sneakers dangling from a wire. Any tips on getting them down?

Hey Greencreeper, is that a pirate get-up your avatar is wearing? You do understand that the gay community long ago coopted the whole pirate theme, don't you?

I work for the electric company. Please, please, please do not try to get the shoes down yourself. You may think you are being safe, but we had a guy get electrocuted while wearing all his safety gear and rubber gloves. There was a pin sized hole in his gloves and that's all it took.

Call your local utility and ask to have them removed. It will be either phone, cable or electrical. There should be wires splitting off the main cable going to other houses. If it is a single small diameter wire it's phone or cable. If it is 3 individual or 3 wires twisted together it's electrical.

I know the shoes are an eyesore, but your life is not worth the gamble.

I hate when people do that it is so stupid. I just had that problem a couple weeks ago. I use a old flagpole to unhook them. First if you are going to do that get a light pole or alot of people to help you. If they are close to a buliding use a ladder, or you could get the firemen to do it for free. But if you do it with the ladder becareful don't to get hurt.Or you could call the telephone company, and say "oh, can you remove those tennis shoes from the phone lines?" The last way is if they are close to a buliding window just ask if you can go inside to get them off. I hope they come out and good luck.

First, make sure it is in fact just a telephone wire and not 1000 volts of electricity! Then if it's close enough to the pole you can slide them close to the pole with an extended paint roller handle.

Otherwise you'll have to pay an electrician to get them down.

Call the Phone Co. and tell them you are having interference on your phone, ever since some kids threw shoes on the wires . Or you can try throwing a big ball at them, in hopes that you can undo them. that's all I could come up with

Please DO NOT use a metal pole, or place a ladder anywhere near the wire. Electricity can arc several feet, and nothing says ghetto like a dead body in front of your house.
Call your utility company is my suggestion, but if you are persistent, use a PVC pole.

Two poles holding the ends of some scissors. Just cut the laces - but watch yer head.

Or you could light your neighbour's house on fire and wait for the firetruck. They have that great ladder at the back and skills with using it. It might cost you a case of beer though. ;)

Probably one for your neighbour too.

Could you call the telephone company, report a problem with your line... keep calling and complaining until the show up at your residence... then say "oh, by the way, can you remove those tennis shoes from the phone lines?"

searching on the realm in which you note the shoes, it might want to correctly be a gang image or a demonstration of someone promoting drugs. it may also advise that some infant has lost his shoes as a funny tale. seem on the situations, and decide from that.
