It depends on what pills you use. The new shorter period pills like loestrin 23 will cause a shorter period. Also, the new 3 month cycle pills usually give you a shorter period after a few cycles. In all truth, however, the "period" you get on the pill isn't really a period at all. Its actually a withdrawal bleed because you stopped the horomones. When you're on the pill, your ovaries don't release an egg and your uterus doesn't thicken its lining, so there isn't really a reason for a period at all other than peace of mind that everything still works down there. In most cases, women taking any kind of birth control pill report shorter and lighter periods in general than before they were taking the pill, whether or not they are taking one of the aforementioned kinds. Hope that helps!

That is the myth. It is not necessarily true. Every woman's body is different and therefore it will react in different ways, but because birth control does put a lot of hormones in your body it is said that it WILL make your periods shorter. And it DOES help to regulate.

Depends on the person. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The pill should regulate your periods. Periods should last between 3-7 days.

birth control pills artificially introduces hormones that are naturally in you system to stop your period.(as when your pregnant) in theory, you could go months without a period, by taking only the active pills. I wouldn't recommend it, as you should consult your doctor for ways to decrease you period length, or frequency
