You can find out what processes are running by Ctrl+Alt+Delete and clicking on processes. However you will have to have enough knowledge of computers to understand the results. A much easier way is to run your pc through the test at http://www.pcpitstop.com/ . It will give you a list of running processes and even tell you which ones are not necessary to run.

These instructions are if your on Windows XP!

1. Go to start, control panel, switch to classic view *if you didnt already*, go to Administrative Tools, Services, then look if you can find it.

2. Go to start, click run, type in MSCONFIG, go to startup, find the name of your software *might be what processes under the task manager calls them*, uncheck it, click apply, click ok, click restart now. (you may have to uncheck more that 1 program because sometimes MSCONFIG adds more than 1 of the same programs.

3. Hold the keys: Ctrl,Alt,Delete. Then Click processes. Look for what is your program.

hi Will, You had a competent guess, tactics could reason that. some courses runs with extra desirable than one technique. there is often a substantial technique (you could discover it with the call daemon) it somewhat is related with sub tactics. in case you close up down a software and your SO fails to close a sub tactics then you definately won't have the skill to work out this equipment on reveal screen or activity supervisor yet its sub technique will nevertheless be alive and the SO is conscious it as a working software. once you click stress close down the SO ignores the fee of technique or sub technique and purely kill all of them. Did I answer your question? See you :)
