the garge is detached and I did close the door and now they seem to be swarming by the door. There is no other way into the garage.

Call an exterminator. They will eat through the drywall or siding to get out. They will be seriously pissed off and aggressive if you close them in. Be glad the garage is detached.

I'd call a professional, but if you insist on doing it yourself.....(1) you can save the bees and rehive them, but you'd have to have the equipment handy. You'd need a hive, smoking equipment, tools to take down the wall board and knowledge to ID the queen, get her into the hive and the others will follow....or you can (2) kill the colony with an insecticide such as carbaryl (poor bees, sniff) Drill holes, spray, etc. Then you'll have to take down the wall board, scrape out the colony and comb, clean well, and put up new wall board. Plan on wearing protective gear.....you won't kill them all with the spray........all the while finding and plugging the hole they used to get inside in the first place. If you don't clean the comb, carpenter bees and other insects move into the comb, eating it and eat your house as well. Plus fermenting honey comb stinks, stains wall board, etc. YUCK!!!!

They will die eventually, if they find no way out. If they are honey bees, see if there is someone in the area that has beehives. Most likely they'd come get them out of there for you for free, just to have the bees. Honey bees could live a long time in there as they can eat the honey they've stored up. It would be best if you could call someone to come get them.

You need to call a professional exterminator (or bee keeper if it's known for sure that they are honey-bees). The pro will know how to get to the bees inside the drywall. It's no job for an amateur. Good luck.

bees run away when you plant smoke underneath them. just burn wood or something to create smoke under the beehive they just leave the behive and run .remove the behive and throw it away

get an exterminator, they will just keep reproducing if you shut the door. or if you cant afford it make a mad dash!!!!lol just kidding
