Disagree with the idea of Global Warming?

Could it be the constant stream of brainwash that they subject themselves to?

Look up Greenhouse Gasses in wikipedia or anywhere for that matter and then tell me that the burning of fossil fuels etc. has no effect on the Earth..

Some of you have good points.. But most of you just regurgitate thoughtless nonsence..

The best arguments have been that the Earth is just going through natural cycles.. And that is fine.. it still doesn't change the fact that:

1)America would be better off if we were less dependant on a fossil fuel economy

2)Developed alternative fuels and or energies

3) Highly efficienct technologies which we could market abroad

Conservatives choose to ignore these points and say "I hate liberals" "Global Warming was created by the Liberal Media" etc etc..

Why can't you see the light? These new technologies are the wave of the future.. A clean, healthy future that will sustain American air, water and soil

Why would taking money away from Arabs be a bad thing?!?!?!

"You think Arabs are mad at us now? Just wait" hahahaha What are you talking about... I hope Americans can make more money I am apathetic to the Arabs at this point

Global warming is caused by pollution and overindustrialization. Two things they dont want to assume any responsibilty for.

Well, I'm not "all conservatives" but...

I don't disagree with global warming, I just don't agree that there is scientific proof that mankind's activity can either increase or decrease it.

What convinces you that a build up of "green house gasses" is a cause and not an effect of global warming? The #1 greenhouse gas is water vapor which varies between 26 and 104 times greater than the #2 gas, CO2. As temperature rises, atmospheric water vapor rises. So, which is the cause and which is the effect?

What do you think would be the global effect of the introduction of a truly alternative fuel? Especially by America? It would be seen as a direct attack on the Arabs' only source of income. If you think they are PO'd at us now, just wait.

Well since you are such a big believer of global warming, you probably know that the UN report says that the biggest contributor to global warming is the dung from farm factories.

Wouldnt that mean that you need to become a vegetarian?? Somehow I doubt that you would. So until you do that, you are just as much a hypocrite as Al Gore with his mansions & private planes.

By the way, the last time I brought up the notion that the earth goes through natural cycles, I was called a fascist. Which I find laughable. Also, recent studies have shown that the sun is burning hotter and that Mars is warming also.

Not all of them are. I asked a question about global warming and got an excellent answer from a self professed conservative, senior citizen. Thinking conservatives realize that conservation and conservative come from the same root. There are a lot of neocons that don't even understand what being a conservative is all about. They are basically negative personalities. Pointing out how much energy Al Gore uses does nothing to disprove the global warming theory. These narrow minded people cannot see the opportunities present for innovative people to develop and market good alternatives.

I really don't think the majority of Conservatives actually do believe it isn't happening, but do believe there is little we can do or that we aren't really sure what is causing it. I think it's Glen Beck, a conservative with a radio show and on cnn headline, who says he knows it's happening, but the science isn't too clear as to why (just to throw one out there), but I don't really rely on the media for much.

Whether it's causing the ozone to deplete or not, people should be trying to make life better, which includes working on those matters you mentioned. I also don't think anyone would disagree with the benefit of those three things. Maybe there needs to be a different approach taken rather then the doom and gloom of a world under water or an ice age (it's too dramatic and difficult to conceptualize - unlike reliance upon foreign oil, etc.). Who knows for sure, but I certainly don't think our government has been rolling in the direction for a long time. I think it's taken this Iraq problem to make people a little more aware of our independance upon other nations.

Rather than seeing the newly elected Democrats waste their time on trying to damage the Bush administration I'd like to see them put forth some good proposals/laws. That's how you could really hurt Bush, by being productive and see if he put's the breaks on good ideas.

why does Al Gore spend $30, thousand dollars in electric a year on his ONE house and fly in a jet that costs around $20, thousand dollars an hour to run and expect us who only use
$3, thousand a year to be the ones to cut down on our pollution?
If the global warming is that bad don't you think he would cut back???
I would like to know where this global warming is too. January was 44 degrees in THE DESERT. Hawaii had 54 degree temperatures and Many states saw more snow than ever.
If we have 100 degree weather where I live this summer maybe I will believe it, but then again why doesn't Al Gore have a problem with his energy consuption???

And if there is global warming where are the statistics to
prove it not natural occurrence. I have seen more to prove that than anything.

First things first: Not all conservatives disagree with the idea of global warming. That is a generalization that is associated with the recent outcry made by Al Gore and liberal scientists.

Second, I agree that more conservatives do not believe in global warming. Sadly, the entire matter has been taken over by politics. The problem of possible "global warming" can only be resolved with scientific cooperation, not political bickering.

Why is it that you are making generalizations? Why do you say that ALL conservatives disagree with the idea of global warming when the President, himself, has said he agrees that global warming is happening just the way Al Gore says it is? I agree with your three ideas and I, too, think that global warming is happening. I just don't believe that it is happening only the way Al says it is. I, and many prominent scientists, think that global warming is also the result of the natural cycles of the earth. Most who believe in global warming as a catch phrase dismiss this fact.

You seem to think of yourself as a liberal. If that's so, then you might want to step back and read your post. That sort of bigotry and liberal thinking aren't completely compatible.
There does seem to be a lot more heat than light when it comes to the subject (pun intended). I think of myself as neither far left nor far right politically, and I'm concerned about the rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, but I think the Kyoto accords are pretty self-serving to many of its signatories and too onerous for the US. Where is that argument in print? All I see are people more interested in being extreme than they are in the problem and its possible solutions.

I don't disagree with Global warming and I think breaking our dependence on fossil fuels is in our best interest. BUT I believe the earth is warming because of cyclic weather patterns, not man made. I also believe we need to move towards alternative fuels, but we need to do it where it makes sense. What good are alternative fuels if nobody can afford it. There needs to be a balance and some common sense used that makes it beneficial for everyone.

Why is it that 30 years ago every scientist out there was insisting on global cooling yet so many people are so insistent of global warming now.

Global warming is a political strategy meant to injur the US economy to favor that of other global markets. China and India are far worse in terms of pollution laws and will soon over take the US in pollution by leaps and bounds yet where is the outrage of them not signing the Kyoto treaty.

This isnt about saving the planet. This is about weakening the US. I wont fall for it. Other people need to stop falling for it too.
