giving time and space to other peoples views no matter how dumb you think they are

To me it is being willing to listen to another persons opinion with an open mind, even if you have, originally, had a completely different view point. Then give the matter some thought before dismissing it out of hand, just because it does not fit in with your thinking. There is also showing respect by a variety of means. To your parents, grandparents, to your friends and partner. These means are different for each person, it is the thing that would show, to them, that you have respect for them personally. You know them so you should know what that would be.

A mutual agreement between two parties or more on an even keel whether determined visually or verbally by assessment in that person(s) mind. Ideally, automatic unless that person has done you harm but in some societies the elder commands respect because of wisdom. No man is a servant unless he chooses to be.

It differs for each individually. In my opinion it's how you perceive another person.
If you value what they have done for you or someone else or you admire them for doing something then I think that is having respect for them.
I do believe that respect is not a god given right but should be earned.
I was in the WRNR and taught to respect the uniform they wore, even if you didn't respect the person inside it.
Just thought I'd mention that :)

It is consideration for the rights and feelings of others.Every has rights. The beaten up man in the Bible story of the Good Samaritan, his right to safety was violated. Respect comes in various forms : Respect for authority, law and order ; respect for other peoples' achievements ; respect for other peoples' right to an opinion, religious beliefs, etc. Respect is love for your fellow-man, respect for the brother-hood of man.

Real respect is treating others as you would have them treat you.

Many kids think being in a gang, cvarrying a gun, threatening people, instilling fear etc gets them respect, it doe not

It makes people fear you.

REAL RESPECT means people do all that ie care and treat you well when you dont have to threaten them. As they genuinely look up to you ...

If you instill fear and are on fire... you victems who were nice to you wont even piss on you to put out the flames, infact they will add fuel and hit you down now you are weak,.

if people respect you they will be willing to get burnt to put out the flames, infact is they truelly respect you they may be willing to get burnt instead of you .

Certainly if you are weak or vunerable or hurt.

those who respect you will look after you not take over.

To get respect you protect others, dont through your waeight around,.

Take responsiblity for looking after others.

you are smart, good at things, achieve things, are a heron to the victems, stick up for others etc.

Respect is the old, golden rule:

"Love thy neighbor as thyself."
