I am an athiest, mostly because there are facts backing evolution. People who are religious are mislead, I mean, do you really think when you go to "heaven" or whatever you are really gonna be greeted by 77 virgins? umm..yeah. Why are religions changing rules of sports and so on? In Ottawa there are muslims who are challenging that human rights are being violated because some girl can't wear her head scarf playing soccer. To me this is ridiculous. She should join a muslim only league. There are people starving out there and 89 percent of muslim women abroad can't even read. Why is this girl an issue? If you don't like the rules, don't play the game. Are we gonna change all sports to fit all religions? Give me a break, who is protecting my human rights by listening to these people? I feel bad that the Canada that I grew up in isn't the same one that my son will grow up in. If these muslims are so gung ho on keeping their traditions sacred, then move back to where you came from!!

Why do you feel it necessary to ask why people believe in such things? Your belief in science is truly based on what? Your faith in the scientific institution. I am an atheist and this sort of black and white argument gets no one anywhere. I feel bad that the Canada you grew up even exists? This is the same Canada that thought it would be honorable to harbor draft dodgers, implement socialist health care, and didn't even have its independence from Great Britain. Tell you what chief, why do you believe in anything? This question makes you seem like an arrogant ***. Atheists do not know everything, the theory of evolution as a means of speciation is called a theory because it is just that, a theory, and Muslims can do whatever they damn please. Let her parents sue to have the rules changed, questions like these are important. The 89% of other Muslim women in the world are NOT CANADIAN CITIZENS and are not given the rights that the one little girl IS given. People form beliefs based on various things. If they have these beliefs due to religion, their beliefs are no less valid than your "atheist" beliefs based on "objectivity" and "science". Please, don't talk in absolutes. Nothing is black and white.

You are so right and I'm no longer a proud Canadian because being "CANADIAN" doesn't really mean much any more.Religion does not belong in sports as it is no longer allowed in any other venue unless it suits an immigrant. What happened to our human rights? Why are Canadian traditions no longer valid?I guess the increase in money to the government is the only tradition we must follow.I also feel bad that my children and thiers will not grow up in a free country after all and I think the U.S. is looking better all the time.I believe that when you move to another country you should assimilate and if you don't want to---Go HOME!!!!That means speak the language as well. You have 2 to choose from---French or English.

Just as it is your right to be an atheist, it is her right to be muslim. I do not see the big deal about wearring a hijab while playing, it doesn't affect anybody.

p.s. There are millions of staring atheists out there but I still took the time to answer your question!
