In WWII we imprisoned all citizens of Japanese anscestry and in WWI we did not imprison anyone from German, Austrian or Turkish anscestry. That is one example of how the domestic response was different. Domestic response is how did the people back home respond, ie. recycling, ride sharing, rationing, women working, etc.

I reckon your teacher is after an essay. Wow! The first world war the US only went in at the end more or less to join the winning side.
In the second it attempted to do the same but profit on it, however, the Japanese forced the situation and the US then had to really gear up all aspects and therefore the whole economy was utilized to fight the agression as the whole country was up in arms over the Japanese attack.
Now, you need to elucidate on that!

Domestic means inside the country ... things like how people felt about the war, how they responded to it, how they changed their lives before and after the US was in the war, etc.
I'm guessing Pearl harbor might get mentioned in a good response to that question, as well as the enormous increase in manufacturing to support the war, marriages and childrearing put on hold, rationing, etc.

in WW2 the " homefront" refered to what people were doing at home to aid the war effort. In WW1 and 2 the differences were very different on the homefront as to what people were doing to help the war effort. Essentially you need to state the differences and give some examples of each one, and tell how it was different in each war.
