How would I go about becoming a Justice of the Peace in Georgia?

Justices of the peace have now been consolidated into the magistrate division in Georgia. Magistrate judges are elected for 4-year terms.

I don't know about Georgia specifically, but in most places Justice of the Peace is an elected position. It helps if you have some sort of legal background (lawyer, or even police officer/sheriff).
