You can safely take Tylenol products with a cold (Tylenol cold is GREAT I have used it before)...just make sure to only take the recommended dose. Dayquil and Nyquil, unfortunately, are a no-no during pregnancy.

I also got a NASTY cold and couldn't sleep...I finally went out and bought a humidifier and with that I was finally able to sleep (not perfect but a whole lot better than before!)

Drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated and take it easy. When I get sick I will literally sleep as much as I can...I try not to get out of bed. Your body heals when you sleep so try to get a lot of it (it's hard though when you feel awful and you're stuffed up). I take off work, nap all day, go to bed early, wake up late, nap more...and it gets rid of the cold much faster the more I sleep!

Get a humidifier, first. That will help you to loosen up with the breathing. Perhaps use some Vicks vapor rub (not a lot), and/or those BreathRite strips.

Drink lots of water and clear fluids (apple juice, etc.).

It won't help with the cold part, but you can take Tylenol PM if you're pregnant. It might knock you out, despite the cold.

You should buy a vaporizer. And you should also rub vicks on your chest and under your nose. Ask someone to rub it on your back near your lungs as well. This should open up your airways and help you to breath better, which in turn will hopefully make you sleep better. Other than that, regular strength tylenol and prayer is all you can do!
