i think you should try to be a pharmisct, because a nurse would have to work long hours, at least longer than a pharmist, so that you can be with your child longer. and if you can't stand blood then being a nurse would be a bad idea.

If you have a weak stomach then I highly recommend Pharmacy for your major. It takes a very very strong person to be an RN. I speak from experience. I wanted to be a nurse since I was a little girl and I succeeded in reaching my goal. I did fine for a while, but the life and death situations got to me. It's easy to burn out in this field because it is so stressful and traumatic most of the time. I took teaching as my back up career. Ended up dropping out of the medical field all together and became a teacher for K-6th grades. I should have gone this route in the first place. I have always liked working with children and even worked my way though college working with children. The switch for me was well worth it. Less stress and I enjoyed the job so much more. As a Pharmacist, you will see sick people but you won't see the blood, guts, and puke that goes with it. You will still be helping man kind in a way you enjoy and feel good about.

Pharmacist. By far.

Ok, both have their bad points. Both can get nasty hours. However, while it does take longer to become a pharmacist, the pay is higher to make up for it. Most importantly, you don't get put through the crap that nurses do. Nurses really get abused. They do all the crap work. Doctors trash both nurses and pharmacists, but nurses get the brunt cuz they're on the front lines assisting doctors. The stress levels really are higher as a nurse.

Nurses eventually get immune to seeing all sorts of bad stuff. You may gag now, but don't assume you'll gag forever. If you ever wanna hear interesting stories, talk to a nurse. Particularly an ER nurse. Just don't do it over a meal.

Pharmacy is a very competitive field. They are paid well, but, stand all day. They also have to do organic chemistry and I don't think nurses do.

There is such a demand for nurses right now, and for the foreseeable future, that you can pretty much 'write your own ticket', even after 2 (AA degree) or 4 (BA degree) years of school.

If it were me, I'd go with Pharmaceutical studies....

RN's and LPN's have to pay a hefty insurance rate to keep themselves protected from malpractice lawsuits....

not to say that RN or LPN is a bad job to have, for there is really a BIG shortage of them, mainly because of Union and insurance issues.

There is a shortage of nurses right now so I think there is good potential and job security if you decide to go down that path.

Pharmacy, no question about it. Hours are more stable, no need to look at open wounds and pays more.
