I got a perfect on the verbal section on the SATs. Do you think that that is a rare thing or not something to be that proud of?

If I have a low Gpa (3.4) and medium sat score (1350/1600) with a perfect verbal score- and I apply as an English major- there will even be a remote chance of getting into JHU?
(This reasoning comes from the fact that most people applying to JHU want to be premeds.)

Do you have a remote chance? Yes. Is it a good chance? No.

John Hopkins isn't just for pre-med people. It's a good school all around. A 3.4 is low. A 1350 is ok, but if you got a 800 on Verbal, that means your Math is really low.

You're really going to have to show some outstanding extra curriculars and some gushing letters of rec along with an amazing essay. I wish you the best of luck, but you're facing a real uphill battle. I'm sure you've seen their averages so you have a good idea of your chances.

you have a chance i think. GPA is bit lower but assuming you did really well in your english classes so i think you have a chance. and if you have extracurriculars that will help you. Its rare to get a perfect on your SAT verbal so be happy!!! its a good thing!

JHU is a med school prep, so if you want to major in english i think you should try to get into an English Unviersity, it would help advance your interests in english.

Actually yes, you do have a chance, especially if you write a good essay and have good extra-curriculars.
