Basically it is just common sense.Take out the existing linkage and go to a junkyard for a car of comparable size and get everything needed to make the change.Remember it will be cable and so you may want to brace the cable in several spots so that it does not give under pressure. You may also want to use the accelerator pedal gfrom that same vehicle. You may also have to do some modification to where the cable connects to the throttle lever.

The easiest way to change from the rod type linkage to a cable, is to use aftermarket parts. Lokar makes some very nice throttle pedal, cable and bracket combinations.

There may be similar cars that use a cable style pedal and bracket assembly. Look at the '67-70 Impalas, Caprice, Bel-Air, etc. The problem is that not many of them are still complete in junkyards, and modification is still required to your car. Thats why I suggest you also look at aftermarket parts. I use a Lokar setup on my '54 Bel-Air, and it works great.

Not to put your idea down or sound smart-***. i think the rod linkage is better than cable, it doesn't fray you don't need extra mounting brackets and it's easier to adjust and it keeps the original look under the hood. Plus! you can chrome it.. if you change it over to cable you have to modify the firewall to install it and then fill the hole from the original setup. if not done properly the cable could bind locking the throttle in any position from idle to wide open.. so! if you do change it over make sure it's done right.and you can get replacement cables easy if you need one. not a special order so your car sits dead.

Just one old mans idea on this. sorry i could not help more.
