She should check to see if anything is blocking the rad and in any owners manual it states it is the owner responsible to check all fluids so check the coolant first. then if the problem still is present go back to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

If their is no coolant do not add any just call the dealer and tell them to send a tow truck at their expense. because if their is any damage to the engine its their problem and not your bill .
That's what the 24hr Roadside is for.
also check to see if their is oil just because it is NEW dose not mean all the fluids are full most people do not look.

No, it's not normal for a vehicle that new to overheat. It may run a LITTLE warmer due to the newness of the engine and the friction parts just "breaking in", but it shouldn't overheat to the extent that it's way over the mid-range of the gauge after it warms up completely. If it's very high, by all means get it back to the dealer.

overheating isnt normal on any car, overheating for any amount of time is damaging the engine.
Its highly unlikely a new car would overheat, is it that the gauge is above halfway? as some cars do that. i have a ford that the heat gauge sits a little bit before the redline before the fan kicks in to action. its done this forever, but the fan always cuts in before it overheats.
If the temperature gauge however is all the way up, id call up the dealer immediately. an engine running too hot is costly engine damage waiting to happen.

It kind-of depends on what you are doing. If you are pulling something big and heavy it will probably overheat. If that happens it is most likely normal. But if you are at a light and it starts to overheat, that is not normal and you might want to let a mechanic to check it out.
