I think that corporate crime really gets a pass. It is largely ignored unless it's too big to be ignored (i.e. Enron) and the punishments are rarely very harsh. How can we tighten up on corporate criminals?

The only way to stop corporate crime is by having the government intervene in questionable contracts & excess profits. When a company posts it yearly profit, someone in government needs to be looking into the amount of profit that was obtained for the same amount of product compared to last years report. When a company has a bankruptcy, then gives a CEO more than a billion dollars from a company that has gone out of business, leaving it's workers without promised benifits, there is something wrong with the picture, this has happened many times, Enron was just the iceing on the cake, too good, & the government had to look into it! The CEO got a slap on the wrist via a prison sentence that looks pale compared to what you & I would have received. Also, don't know how much, if any of the billions he had to return!
The government turns it head whenever large bonuses are paid to CEOs, They are a part of the problem. They don't know how to say no to those jet rides, vacations, fine dinners, cars etc that big business hands out to them. I doubt that much will change even though we now have a slim lead in both houses by the Democrats, but they have had their turn at the hand outs before, lets see if they can stay away now!

You are looking at this all wrong. A crime is a crime, it does not matter where the crime took place. However when you have lawyers and judges that let the criminal go, what can you do. Child molesters being set free because they are to short and may get beaten up in prison, or because they are to pretty to go to prison. Executives that steal documents for the purpose of a cover up, and are not sent to jail. CEO's that only serve a year in a low security jail and get to keep their millions that were wrongfully obtained. Or the Executive that gets away with sexual misconduct because he didn't understand the term "sexual relationship".

These crimes take place all over the place and on both sides of the party lines. The problem comes from placing judges on the bench that are so liberal, that they permit and restrict evidence based on their views and not the laws as written.

Since most people want to make this a party issue, let us remember that Enron took place under the Clinton administration and was caught and handled under the Bush administration. Burger stole the classified documents to cover up Clinton's roll in the event leading to 9/11, and Clinton received the BJ which redefined the meaning of sexual relations

Gads! If the government stops corporate crime then this country will be out of business. It will be all over. No need for wars, or anything for that matter. We will all be crossing the border illegally into Mexico.

We alredy have with things like Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), GLBA and a whole host of other legislation.

You don't hear much about white collar crime but I'm sure it is dealt with.
