There aren't any biological organisms in the insulin, but a gene was placed into E.coli so that it produced the insulin. I'm guessing that is what you were interested in!

There are no organisms, but a gene was placed into E. Coli to make some of the preps. Other use DNA technology to create human insulin. The later is less allergenic because it is not made from foreign material. GL.

Insulin is a hormone and contains no "biological organisms".
